why do you turn gps off?

    1. I do that for testing sometimes so I can trigger K band without it getting locked out on video and so I don’t get GPS weirdness when I do videos indoors.

Any tips to get the EL app to connect with the Max360?
My 360 is hard wired, BT is connected to the phone (verified in phone settings and display of 360)
However, the app shows the 360 but will not connect to it to allow me access to the device settings.
Phone is an iPhone 6s+. I am assuming there is something wrong with app.

    1. There shouldn’t be any tricks. You should be able to see the Max360 in your phone’s bluetooth devices list. Connect to it there and then you can connect to the app.

Have you made any test after the Max 360 new firmware Vortez?

        1. Not much has changed with the new firmware. However, I am doing some testing this weekend with a bunch of different detectors, Max360 included. Stay tuned for updates. 🙂

This radar detector is huge (for my 09 Miata). I’ve got a homelink rearview mirror that I could tap into for power, so would mounting it to the left of the mirror be ideal, or should I mount it low on the windshield near the dash?

    1. It is huge, yeah. I’ve got an ’11 Miata, so same thing. Up high and to the left of the RVM is my favorite spot for it. It’s pretty easy to run a power cable along the trim of the vehicle, or you can power it from your homelink RVM.

Will escort live send data t the detector to alert me. Also what is the best way to update firmware and defender database on his model.

Vortex… Question. I just bought a Max 360 yesterday and am having two problems with it. First, the detector is in Spec 1 Mode, one alert with frequency; arrow mode is set to band.

Here is my first problem… the radar detector is reporting a frequency of 10.??? as a K Band alert with Green Arrows!?! It even sends the same K Band Alert to my phone as a K Band Alert with a 10.??? frequency!?! Doesn’t seem right…

Second problem… the GPS feature is not working. The 2 boxes on the left are blank! every once in a while the first box shows my speed setting of 85…

Have you ever seen this? The firmware that came with the detector is 1.5. Any ideas? Got it from Best Buy.

Vortex, in general would you pick the max360 or the V1 ? assuming the person is savvy enough to get the V1 running with optimal settings? Thanks!

    1. I’ve long been a V1 person and all the third party app development adds some amazing new functionality. The Max360 is much more convenient though, it gets great performance without relying on more complicated setup and configuration, the display gives you more info, and you get crowd-sourced alerts with Escort Live.

I’m getting plagued with k band false alerts on my Max 360 – any suggestions? I have TSR turned on (and x-band off) but hasn’t helped. I also installed the latest firmware v1.7 but this hasn’t helped either.

    1. Auto and AutoLoK can help too. Every radar detector will have false alerts on K band. It’s just a fact of life in this day and age. The Max360 is one of the best at filtering them, but you can’t expect it to be perfect.

Thanks for the reply – appreciate it. I’m not expecting perfection, but these false alerts are literally non-stop – to the point of me turning off the RD. Not sure what else i can do at this point. Perhaps the RD is defective- if it isn’t then shame on the Escort folks for selling a $600 paper weight.

    1. It shouldn’t be that bad. There may be something else going on. Maybe even radar being transmitted from your own car. Start a thread on RDF and we can walk you through troubleshooting. https://www.rdforum.org/index.php?forums/15/
