Here are the upgrade notes, directly from Valentine:

This basically fixes two issues:

  • Incorrect battery voltage reported in phone apps
  • Display brightness gets stuck being dim

So nothing super major, but definitely welcome nonetheless.

My Thoughts

These issues were initially reported a month ago and I’m glad to see Valentine release an update to address these issues.

This update does not address the Ka falsing issues introduced over a year ago back in firmware 4.1027. It sounds like Valentine is continuing to work on balancing the improved performance they added along with reducing Ka falses (improved last month with firmware 4.1029, but not yet fully fixed).

I’m hopeful that they fully fix that issue after further troubleshooting and testing, but in the meantime I’m glad to see them release a quick update to fix these two small issues so that apps can display vehicle voltage properly and so that the V1’s autodimming display can resume working properly once again.

  1. If the Uniden R8 has the most range, why is the Valentine 1 Gen 2 your road trip detector of choice? I need an upgrade from my Redline 360c. Are there any new models about to launch that I should wait for before I commit? Who has better customer service in your opinion, Uniden or Valentine?

  2. after this update, experienced a great deal of laser falsing, in a location that never falsed. my parking lot with stationary parked vehicles very strange…
