Escort Redline 360c Firmware 1.7

Escort has just released firmware 1.7 for the Redline 360c (purchase here). This is a minor update with just a few small bug fixes.

Redline 360c fw 1.7

Disabling Laser Detection Now Works

There was a bug to where if you turned laser detection off in the Redline 360c, it would continue to alert to laser normally regardless. Now if you disable laser detection in the detector or via the Escort Live app, laser alerting will be properly disabled.

Reduced Autolockout Beep Volume Level

When the Redline 360c automatically learns and locks out a stationary false alert, it beeps and displays “Stored” on screen. That lockout beep used to be annoyingly loud and now Escort has reduced the volume of the beep.

Hopefully they do the same with their other detectors too. 🙂 It’s a small but very welcome change.

ADS Maestro RR2 Connectivity Fix

Next is a bug fix if you’re using the ADS Maestro RR2 to connect your Redline 360c to your vehicle’s head unit. This update fixes an issue with the “Interface Mode 2” menu option that used to prevent the detector from connecting properly.

Improved MultaRadar Signal Rampup

Finally, this update improves the rampup as you approach and pass an MRCD or MRCT photo radar system.

How to Update to 1.7

To update your detector, you can plug it into your computer via USB and run Escort Detector Tools. Alternatively, when your detector is connect to the cloud over WiFi, it will prompt you when the update is available and you can download it right from your car while driving.

  1. Now, if they’d only update their prices to compete some with R7. I think they should at least close the gap some. Still no sales offers I have noticed for 360C. Has anyone seen any better deals than retail yet? Maybe they are hoping only to compete against Theia when it drops.

  2. What if Theia starts at under RL360c price ? ?

  3. It can’t be that low. They have stated they predict 3 digits, so my bet is $949-$999. Makes the 360C look more of an in-between option at that price point. So much R&D from a smaller business to establish a new level of protection comes at a cost. So I cannot blame their higher price vs the Escort on greed.

Coming up on a year after the release of 360C (June). Prices likely won’t come down until supply starts to ramp up quite a bit. It’s on BO every time I have looked. I also expect they may have stopped production or kept it only in small batches for fulfilling orders taken- due to Covid.

  4. I agree with Chris. Radenso also specifically said Theia will be the most expensive windshield-moumt radar detector.

  5. Has anyone noted a problem with iPhones (11) Bluetooth connections and the Redline 360c? When I am running Escort Live and I’m on a phone call, the Bluetooth connection to my car (2016 Audi RS7) occasionally disconnects the phone’s hands free from the car. The conversation is still there but now it’s on handset. The radio comes on as if I wasn’t on a call. Then the call goes back to Bluetooth and the car’s hands free mode. If I’m not running Escort Live, the problem doesn’t occur. I don’t know if it’s an Escort, Apple or Audi issue.

  6. Hey Bob. I have been using my Redline 360c in my aunt’s 2013 Honda Civic and I have my Samsung Note 10+ connected to the hands free system to talk when I drive. When I use the Escort live on a few 130 mile trips it will randomly disconnect from the detector. Escort customer service said it might be competing between the 2 different bluetooth connections. Usually once I reset it it goes back to normal. I don’t know if it’s specific to when I get a call or message though but it is definitely annoying. But it will just show the bluetooth Logo on the detector instead of the speed limit. This is on I-25 in New Mexico and it definitely has the speed limit information.

  7. Adam,

Much appreciated. Since you’re Android and I’m Apple it doesn’t seem like a phone thing, it’s in Live or the detector. At least I know I’m not singularly going crazy. I’ve also had the speed limit information come and go which suggests my WiFi connection might be screwy too.

    Bob

  9. Crazy Question can you help ? I am trying to find a good setting for my escort 360 see redline do you offer one and if you do how do I find it

    1. Sure, you can take a look at this post. There’s recommended settings towards the bottom. 🙂

  10. I’m not sure exactly what settings you are referring to but what I did was print out the manual off the escort website. Also if you call escort they usually are very helpful. They can’t really recommend what segments to use but I turned off Ka bands1,3,9, and 10. As for the K band I left it on and didn’t mess with it because I live in New Mexico and some of the Native American reservations and small towns still use it frequently. X band I turned off. At first the K band was a little annoying but once the Auto learn blocked out the false signals it works good for me. Are you using the Live app or on the detector itself? Only feature I had to turn on direct on the detector was the K notch filter for BSM filter. Hope this helps.
