Escort Adds MRCD Support to the Max 360c

Max 360c with MRCD on

Escort just released firmware 1.11 for the Max 360c which adds support for MultaRadar CD detection. The MRCD is a low powered photo radar gun commonly used overseas. In Canada it’s actively used in Alberta as well as in Quebec. In the US it’s used in NYC, Maryland, and Washington D.C.

If you live in an area where the MRCD is in use, you can now update your 360c, enable the option, and it will be able to detect the MRCD.

Note: MRCD detection will be off by default.

In the detector, the option is located in the Radar Bands menu, between K and Ka bands.

In Escort Live, the option is located at the bottom of the Band Settings section.

This update does not enable MRCT detection (used in Chicago) or Gatso detection (used in Iowa), address any lockup issues, add AutoJTK support for laser shifters, or otherwise add any other new features or bug fixes. It’s solely an update to add support for MRCD detection.

To update your 360c, you can plug it into computer and run Escort Detector Tools or you can update directly over WiFi.

You can purchase an Escort Max 360c here.

Update: MRCD detection has now also been added to the original Max 360 with firmware 1.12/1.9 and the Cobra DualPro 360 with firmware 1.2.

Hi, tried the update via WiFi and it said I was already on the most recent firmware…checked the app on my phone and did not show the MRCD option at the bottom of the bands…

    1. Try updating with the computer. Sometimes they’re out of sync with which firmware updates are available from the computer vs. over WiFi. If it’s not available over WiFi yet, you can give it another day or two and it should be there soon too.

Does this update apply to the GT360 too?

    Hey Vortex,
First of all, I just wanna say I appreciate your YouTube page. It’s been pretty informative, although a little confusing at times, and helpful getting insight into what’s out there for radar detectors. I think I have narrowed it down tho to the R7 or the 360c.
Anyhow I just spent the last two weeks watching your different videos regarding the Max 360c and Uniden R7. I was just wondering if they added MRCT to the band frequency on the 360c? I believe Passport firmware 1.11 just added MRCD. Anyway the way I feel about it is if I’m buying a premium detector and paying premium prices, it should cover all the Radars being used. I do understand however, that MRCD and MRCT isnt used everywhere. This would be fine if you don’t travel, but at a $650.00+ tax price point, you would think it would pump your gas for you too. Lol.

    1. They did not add MRCT support, only MRCD. Escort said this was intentional because they get a lot of false alerts on MRCT and instead want to rely on their GPS database for alerts since they’re all used as fixed photo radar cameras here in the US. I agree that it’d be nice to have one radar detector that can do it all…

Hi Vortex, Thanks for all the help in educating us car guys on radar defense. I live in Edmonton, Alberta and appreciate the info on MRCD.
Have you heard about new firmware 127.127 for the R7 that is supposed to greatly improve MRCD detection? I don’t know if it is just for Canada as it is not mentioned on the Uniden website. It is mentioned at Kmph.ca. Also now that the Max 360C has MRCD, could that be a better choice for me in Edmonton than the R7 or Radenso Pro M?
I’m planning on purchasing a new detector in April. Should I just wait for the new Radenso model?
Perhaps a video in the new year comparing MRCD in all 3 of the above mentioned detectors.
Wishing you all the best in your new family life.
    Regards,
    Don

    1. Uniden is actively beta testing firmware for the R7 and specifically MRCD capabilities. It’s not ready for prime time, but @Dukes in Edmonton is doing a lot of testing. I don’t do MRCD testing since it’s not in my area so I leave all of that up to people who have the ability to test that stuff out.

Hey man, thanks for all of the good information. Has Escort fixed the sleeping issue on the Max360’s? I’ve been a V1 user for 14 years but looking at something new that doesn’t need an app with it. Thanks.

Hi Vortex. Does the MRCD update apply to the max 360 or just the 360c?
    thanks

    1. The update is now available for the original 360 as well. http://escortradarforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18975

Will you be doing a video comparing the effectiveness of the Uniden R7, the Radenso Pro M and the Escort 360c on MRCD?

    1. I don’t have the MRCD in use in my area so I don’t have a way to do it. You can always check with other testers and enthusiasts on the forum who are doing such testing. Any videos I do will simply be reporting on their results so you can just ask them directly. https://www.rdforum.org/index.php

Thanks. I will check into that. I think it would be very helpful for your subscribers. I live in Edmonton and would like to get something new in March. It’s a tough decision, because each detector has its pros and cons. I know Radenso has some awesome technology coming, but it might be quite a ways off despite what they are saying.

Have you heard of this update making the front sensor on the radar not work? I just bought a 360c and it seemed like after I updated the firmware to 1.11 I no longer receive signals from the front. Is this just a coincidence or has anyone else had this problem?

Just an update, this was a defective unit. I bought another one and updated it with no problems at all.
